Professional Diploma in Special Education (Early Childhood)
Our Professional Diploma in Special Education (Early Childhood) programme aims to help students appreciate the diverse teaching needs of working with young children with learning disabilities and understand the concepts of creating a highly inclusive learning environment in an early childhood setting.
Conducted by qualified lecturers with Masters from reputable Australian and Singaporean universities, the diploma programme equips students with skills that are in demand by the Singapore ECE industry and improves their chances of securing a full-time job placement.
Certificates are awarded by the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia – School of Professional and Continuing Education (UTMSPACE).
The 18 months programme will teach students the fundamentals of effective interpersonal and communication skills needed to interact with young children with learning disabilities as well as their families and communities with consideration for cultural diversity. Students will learn effective approaches necessary and create an inclusive environment that promotes effective learning and positive behaviour for young children with complex learning difficulties such as intellectual, sensory, social, emotional and behavioural difficulties.
The programme also aims to equip students to support the learning objectives of special needs children by implementing the appropriate teaching methods to optimise their learning, drawing from an understanding of a diverse range of educational needs. They will be equipped to tailor the learning goals of individual children with the right mode of instruction and teaching tools.
