Professional Certificate in Computer Fundamentals and Programming
At the completion of this module, students will be able to:
• Show how computer hardware represents information.
• Explain how computing components may be combined to build computer systems.
• Apply general problem-solving strategies to the development of computer algorithms.
• Write computer programs to express and implement algorithms to solve problems.
• Develop the structural and dynamic models based on system design.
• Demonstrate the application of design patterns in system design.
• Explain the role of an operating system in managing and interacting with computer system components including main and secondary memory.
• Understand how the web works, and how to create websites with the building blocks of the web: HTML, CSS, and some JavaScript.
• Understand database concepts and GUI programming.
In this course, students will learn the types and generations of computer systems, the functions of computer ports and devices and also the file and data processing cycle. Additionally, students will be able to describe basic information technology concepts and be introduced to the different types of business information systems and use of IT as a tool to do essential business task. This course will also cover the basics of computer programming, innovative design and object-oriented paradigm, creation of interactive graphical programs and the use of object-oriented programming techniques to develop software applications. Students will also be taught how to apply programming methods to present information on web pages, work with database using GUI components, and use CSS and Javas-script to create dynamic and interactive webpages.

Project Duration
Part-time Study: 6 months (108 hours in total - excluding of lunch hour)

This course is suitable for anyone who is interested to know about computers and the basics of programming. No prior knowledge or experience in IT and Computing is assumed for this course.
- Aged 18 years old and above
- Academic performance with at least 1 credit in SPM/UEC or any other equivalent qualification.
- Admission to this program is based on the performance of student admission interview.
