Professional Certificate in Computing and Network Security Fundamentals
This course aims to provide students with a good knowledge of the various components and function of the hardware and software of a computer systems, and the techniques used to implement operating systems. Students will also learn the basics of cloud computing and how such technologies can benefit the organizations. Last but not least, they will learn the different methods of data encryption to protect data from cyber-security threats.
In this course, students will learn to appreciate a computer system's functional components, the interactions that exists between each components, their characteristics and their performance. They will also learn about various cloud computing models, management tasks, cloud virtualization and security. Additionally, students will be taught the basic fundamentals of networks for data communication and network layering, the principles of network security, information security threats, trends, policies and the encryption and decryption techniques though the use of public and private keys.

Project Duration

This course is designed for students to learn the fundamentals of cloud computing, the advantages and disadvantages, underlying technology, and commonly used cloud applications. Students will also will be taught cloud computing concepts such as also cloud storage, backup and infrastructure services and how these services can benefit organizations. Additionally, students will learn the function and structures of operating systems, the principles of network security that are important in protecting huge stored data and preventing unauthorized users from accessing the computer networks and their associated devices. After completing this course, students can gain a good understanding of the network basics of cloud computing, storage virtualization basics and how cryptography and network security techniques can be utilized to protect and ensure the security of the data across the network.
- Aged 18 years old and above
- Academic performance with at least 1 credit in SPM/UEC or any other equivalent qualification.
- Admission to this program is based on the performance of student admission interview.
