Computing and Network Security Fundamentals
This course is designed for students to learn the fundamentals of cloud computing, the advantages and disadvantages, underlying technology, and commonly used cloud applications. Students will also will be taught cloud computing concepts such as also cloud storage, backup and infrastructure services and how these services can benefit organizations. Additionally, students will learn the principles of network security that are important in protecting huge stored data and preventing unauthorized users from accessing the computer networks and their associated devices. After completing this course, students can gain a good understanding of the network basics of cloud computing, storage virtualization basics and how cryptography and network security techniques can be utilized to protect and ensure the security of the data across the network.
In this course, students will learn to appreciate a computer system's functional components, their characteristics, their performance, and their interactions. They will also learn about various cloud computing models, management tasks, cloud virtualization and security. Additionally, students will be taught the basic fundamentals of networks for data communication and network layering, the principles of network security, information security threats, trends, policies and the encryption and decryption techniques though the use of public and private keys.

Part-time Study: 3 months (72 hours in total - excluding of lunch hour)

This course is suitable for anyone who is interested to know about computers and network security. No prior knowledge or experience in IT and Computing is assumed for this course.
